Syracuse, N.Y. -- A woman was stabbed in the throat during an altercation on Spring Street in Syracuse’s North Side on Friday night, according to Onondaga County 911 dispatch reports.
Shortly after dispatchers received a call about the stabbing, a Syracuse police officer was flagged down by people in a car who had driven away from the scene, according to dispatch reports.
The officer told dispatchers the woman was not conscious and not breathing.
The altercation was called in to dispatchers at 6:15 p.m. on Friday night.
At the time, the 911 caller told dispatchers the woman had been stabbed and was being driven away from a home in the 300 block of Spring Street in a black car. The officer was flagged down about a quarter of a mile away near the intersection of Butternut and Carbon streets.
A spokesman for the Syracuse Police Department has yet to return a request for comment. The woman’s condition is unknown.
Several blocks of Spring Street were taped off Friday night as officers investigated the stabbing. A woman arrived around 7:15 p.m. as officers carried several kids out of a house on the 300 block of Spring Street.
The woman said her child was being babysat at the house when she received a call from the babysitter about the stabbing.
“All I know is someone was stabbed,” she said.
