SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- Sreet construction update:
Lane Closures - West Avenue
Beginning on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, the outside lanes of West Avenue will be closed between Eighth Street and Tenth Street to allow crews to remove and replace traffic signal equipment. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction on West Avenue.
Temporary stop signs will be placed at the Eight Street and Tenth Street intersections until the new traffic signals are operational.
This is the first phase of a project to rehabilitate West Avenue between Sixth Street and 12th Street. Improvements will include utility repairs, accessible curb ramps, new traffic signals, isolated sidewalk and curb repairs and overlay of the asphalt surfacing.
The project is anticipated to be complete in the fall of 2020.
Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.
Street Closure - 12th Street
Beginning on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, West 12th Street will be closed between Summit Avenue and Walts Avenue and Walts Avenue and Grange Avenue. North-south traffic on Walts Avenue will remain open.
This is the next phase of a project to reconstruct 12th Street between Grange Avenue and Summit Avenue. Improvements will include upgrading the water main, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, accessible curb ramps and asphalt surfacing.
The work is anticipated to be complete by August 2020.

Lane Closures – Minnesota Avenue
The work that was previously scheduled to begin on Friday, May 22, 2020, has been rescheduled to begin on Tuesday, May 26, 2020. The outside northbound lane of South Minnesota Avenue will be closed between 39th Street and 43rd Street to allow construction crews to replace the accessible curb ramps. In addition, the outside eastbound and westbound lanes of 41st Street will be closed at Minnesota Avenue. Access will be maintained to side streets during this work.
This is the next phase of a project to upgrade the ADA accessible curb ramps and sidewalk at select intersections along the Minnesota Avenue corridor.
This work is anticipated to be complete in approximately two weeks at this location.

Lane Closure - Russell Street
Beginning on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, the outside eastbound lane of West Russell Street will be closed at Bailey Street to allow crews to install a water main. The on-ramp from the frontage road onto Russell Street will also be closed. Access will be maintained through the frontage road accesses at Prairie Avenue and West Avenue.
This is the next phase of a project to reconstruct Bailey Street between West Avenue and Main Avenue. Improvements will include upgrading the water main, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, accessible curb ramps and asphalt surfacing.
This work is anticipated to be complete in approximately four days.
The project is anticipated to be complete by November 2020.

Lane Closure - Western Avenue
Beginning on Wednesday, May 27, 2020, the southbound lane of South Western Avenue at 28th Street will be narrowed and shifted to allow construction crews to perform storm drainage repairs. Traffic will be maintained at all times.
This work is anticipated to be complete in approximately two weeks.

Sertoma Park –
Greenway Trail Bridge Closed for Repair
Beginning on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, the greenway trail bridge over the Big Sioux River at Sertoma Park will be closed for repairs. Bike/Pedestrian detour will be posted during this closure.
This work will include removing and splicing the damaged pile sections.
Weather permitting, this work is anticipated to be complete by August 2020.
