A stretch of West State Street in downtown Milwaukee will be configured into a two-way street next week.
West State, from North 6th to North Market streets, will experience rolling daytime closures on May 26 and 27, according to the Department of Public Works.
The road should reopen the evening of May 27 as a two-way road. Additional closures are likely the following two days.
That stretch of State Street, which currently is used for one-way traffic headed west, is the last portion of the street through downtown to be switched to two-way traffic.
The stretch is near Fiserv Forum and the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena, where the Democratic National Convention is set to be held in August.
Crews will also resurface West State from North 10th to North Old World 3rd streets on May 26 and 27. The road will be closed from 6 a.m. until work is finished each day.
North Old World 3rd Street will remain open, and North 6th Street will be closed when crews are working in the intersection. All side streets will be closed at West State.
