Construction is scheduled to begin the week of Aug. 30 for the Main Street Road at Nelson Lake Road intersection traffic signal installation, located in Batavia Township.
According to a Kane County Division of Transportation news release, the improvements will increase safety and improve traffic operations through the intersection.
The work consists of new traffic signals, striping, and landscape restoration. Initial work on the project will include the installation of conduit, wires and concrete signal bases.
A follow-up press release concerning remaining work will be issued once materials are delivered later this year.
The Main Street and Nelson Lake road will remain open during construction, but work may require temporary daily lane closures and flaggers, primarily between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Motorists should expect delays while traveling through the work areas, consider alternate routes and expect additional commute time. Motorists are asked to reduce their speed, watch for construction workers and vehicles entering and leaving the site and obey flaggers and traffic control devices.
