STAFFORD – Fifteen year old Nick Hovey of Chaplin held off Chris Meyer to score his first career win in the 20-lap Street Stock feature.
“We had a great car all day,” Hovey said. “First practice it was a little iffy. My dad did a lot this weekend.”
Chris Meyer of North Franklin was second and Travis Hydar of Woodbury third. Hydar was penalized to sixth place following the event for being overweight, moving Adrian Paradis III of Plainville to third.
Meyer was able to get past Hydar for second on a lap 18 restart and gave Hovey a bump on the backstretch on lap 19, but couldn’t find the lane to the lead.
“Not tonight, the Kid did a great job,” Meyer said. “I laid the bumper to him going down the backstretch, and tried to see if I could get him to mess up a little bit. He did a great job. He did what he needed to do.”
Tyler Chapman of Ellington eld off the charges of his brother Steven and Derek Debbis over the closing laps to win the 20-lap Street Stock feature.
Debbis, of Oakdale passed Steven Chapman on the final lap for second. Steven Chapman of Ellington was third.
It was the second career SK Light Modified victory at Stafford for Tyler Chapman.
Rich Hammann rallied through the final corner and edged Alexandra Fearn at the checkered by inches to win the 20-lap Limited Late Model feature.
It was the second win of the season for Hammann, of Tolland.
Fearn, of East Longmeadow, Mass., was second and Gary Patnode of Barkhamstead was third.
