SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Street construction update:
Street Closure –
69th Street and Sycamore Avenue
Beginning on Monday, April 5, 2021, South Sycamore Avenue will be closed from 65th Street to just south of 69th Street, and 69th Street will be closed from Bahnson Avenue to just east of Sycamore Avenue to allow crews to reconstruct the intersection of 69th Street and Sycamore Avenue. Motorists should utilize Southeastern Avenue, Veterans Parkway, and 57th Street as alternate routes.
Work will include private utility relocation, installation of underground utilities, street lighting, and asphalt pavement.
This work is anticipated to be complete in late fall of 2021.
Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.
Lane Closure – 49th Street between Arway Drive and Carnegie Circle
Beginning on Monday, April 5, 2021, the center lane on 49th Street between Arway Drive and Carnegie Circle will be closed with traffic being reduced to one lane in each direction.
This phase of the Roadway and Utility Reconstruction Project will include installation of new watermain valves.
This work is anticipated to be complete within ten working days with a completion date of mid-August for this project.

Street Closure – Marion Road
Beginning on Monday, April 5, 2021, South Marion Road will be closed from 53rd Street to 57th Street to allow construction crews to begin work on street and utility improvements. Motorists should utilize Solberg Avenue as the detour route.
Work will include replacing the water main and sanitary sewer, concrete repairs, and new asphalt surfacing.
This work is anticipated to be complete by mid to late June.

Street Closure – 54th Street North
Northview Avenue to Westport Avenue
Beginning on Monday, April 5, 2021, work will resume for the Roadway and Utility Improvements Project on 54th Street North from Northview Avenue to Westport Avenue.
54th Street North will be closed from Northview Avenue to Westport Avenue, including the Northview Avenue intersection with Westport Avenue remaining open.
This work is anticipated to be complete by the end of June.

Lane Closure – 22nd Street
Beginning on Monday, April 5, 2020, the westbound lane of West 22nd Street will be closed between Menlo Avenue and Grange Avenue to allow crews to perform concrete pavement repairs. Westbound traffic will be maintained in the center turn lane. Parking lot access and pedestrian traffic will be maintained at all times.
Weather permitting, this work is anticipated to be complete within one week.

Bike Trail Closure – Falls Park
Beginning on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, the main bike trail on the east side of the Big Sioux River will be closed between Sixth Street and Falls Park Drive to allow crews to reconstruct the bike trail. Bike trail users will be directed to a signed detour route along Sixth Street and Phillips Avenue.
This work will include removing the existing eight foot wide bike trail and replacing it with a ten foot wide bike trail. The bike trail is expected to reopen by late June.
Bike trail users and Falls Park visitors are urged to use caution near the construction area
