MADISON (WKOW) -- The city of Madison's Streets Division is sending out the street sweepers to begin their spring cleaning Sunday.
Street sweepers will be collecting sand, salt and other accumulations from this winter during their 16-hour days. The overnight shift runs from 10:00 p.m. to 6 a.m. and the day shift runs 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Crews will be working on this street sweeping schedule for up to six weeks, but it could change due to the weather.
The streets division asks that drivers follow parking restriction signs and for residents to not leave trash and recycling bins along the curb.
According to the division, a street sweeper's top speed is 5 MPH, so if you're traveling behind one, remember to provide them space and be patient.
