2 men killed when car slams into traffic pole on 103rd Street - WJXT News4JAX

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two men were killed early Saturday morning when their car slammed into a concrete traffic pole at the intersection of 103rd Street and Ricker Road, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

A third man in the car was thrown from the vehicle, and family told News4Jax he was in the Intensive Care Unit at Orange Park Medical Center.

Troopers said the car was speeding when the driver lost control and hit the pole. The impact wrapped the car around the pole, which was partially knocked over.

The driver and front passenger, both 32 years old, died at the scene. The rear passenger was hospitalized in serious condition.

Family said the man taken to the hospital was 22 years old and that the three were cousins and were all family men.

Troopers said none of the men were wearing seat belts.

All lanes of 103rd Street were closed in both directions and JSO was redirecting traffic.
