FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP - A 28-year-old Galion man and a 2-year-old boy were killed in a Tuesday afternoon crash involving a car and a semi truck, according to a news release from the Mansfield post of the Ohio Highway Patrol.
The crash happened in the 2700 block of Bowman Street Road.
The deceased man, identified by the patrol as Colin A. Grassick, 28, Galion, was pronounced dead at the scene, to Bob Ball, a Richland County coroner's investigator. The 2-year-old was passenger in the Grassick's car.

The Mansfield post is investigating the fatal crash, which occurred at approximately 12:44 p.m. on Bowman Street Road just north of Amoy East Road in Franklin Township.
Grassick, driving a 2009 Ford Escape, was northbound on Bowman Street Road. Grassick's car went left of center and struck a 2007 Freightliner driven by Melvin G. Sparks. The truck was southbound on Bowman Street Road.
Both of Grassick's juvenile passengers were transported from the scene. A 2-year-old male passenger succumbed to his injuries at Nationwide Children’s Hospital after being flown from OhioHealth-Mansfield Hospital, according to the patrol. The second passenger, a 6-year-old girl, is recovering at OhioHealth-Mansfield.
Sparks was transported to OhioHealth-Mansfield with minor injuries and was later discharged. All occupants of both vehicles were properly restrained.
The crash remains under investigation. It is unknown at this time whether alcohol or drugs are a factor in the crash, the patrol said.
Assisting agencies included Franklin Township Fire/EMS, Community EMS, MedFlight and the Richland County Coroner’s Office.
