A portion of Main Street in Tatamy was closed Saturday morning and power affected for hundreds of customers after a truck crashed into utility poles.
The crash was reported at 6:50 a.m. Saturday, and as of 10:30 a.m. Main Street was still closed, a supervisor at the Northampton County 911 center confirmed.
The truck sheared utility poles in the 200 block of Main Street in the borough, near the intersection with Bushkill Street and Tony’s Pizza.
Main Street was closed between Bushkill and Eighth streets.
PPL reported 373 customers in the borough were without power, with power estimated to be restored by 1 p.m.
Mayor Chris Moren posted photos on Facebook of the aftermath, and said PPL customers and businesses should be prepared for possible power outages while repairs are made.
The truck was removed and fluids cleaned up, Moren said, and the scene was turned over to the power company so they can make repairs.
“It’s just a mess,” he said, adding that besides the damage to the poles and a tree along the side of the road, nothing else was damaged.
