All ramps to and from Interstate 94 at Dale Street in St. Paul will close to traffic beginning Monday at 6 a.m. The ramps are expected to remain closed through late fall.
The closures signal the start of the reconstruction of the Dale Street bridge.
Motorists should follow detour signs using Lexington Parkway and University and Selby avenues.
Beginning Monday, portions of St. Anthony and Concordia avenues will be temporarily converted from one-way to two-way streets including:
- St. Anthony Avenue between St. Albans Street and Dale Street and between Dale Street and Kent Street.
- Concordia Avenue between St. Albans Street and Dale Street and between Benjamin E. Mays IB World School and Western Avenue.
- The St. Anthony Avenue and Concordia Avenue intersections at Dale Street will close to east-west traffic.
Dale Street and the bridge will remain open to two-way traffic throughout 2020.
Later this month, Dale Street traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Concordia Avenue and St. Anthony Avenue. All traffic will shift to the west side of the bridge so crews can demolish and rebuild the east side of the bridge.
The county had planned a kick-off event for the neighborhood to educate about construction job opportunities, project timelines, traffic impacts and public art, but that event has been canceled due to COVID-19 restrictions on gathering.
