Cops looking for armed suspect who shot two on Brooklyn street - amNY

Two people were shot, including a woman walking with her son and husband, along a Brooklyn street next to a city housing complex on Sunday afternoon, police officials said.

Witnesses say a woman in her 40s was hit, along with an unidentified male, on Park Avenue near the corner of North Portland Avenue, adjacent to the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, at 3:12 p.m. on March 22. At this time, police did not reveal the conditions or identities of both victims.

Officers from the 88th Precinct and PSA3 Housing responded to the scene and found the two people on the ground. Both were rushed to Brooklyn Hospital.

Police were observed speaking with a man in his 40s and a young boy who he was trying to console after the shooting.

Park Avenue was closed going eastbound as police scouring the area. Several spent rounds marked on a scaffolding next to 56 North Oxford Walk in the Walt Whitman Houses, a NYCHA complex.

The NYPD described the suspect as a black male. Police are going through housing complex video for a better description.

There have been a number of reported gang-related shootings in Brooklyn, according to previous reports.

Friday night, two men were shot in the legs in Brownsville on Dumont Avenue and Thomas Boyland Street. Police took several men into custody the next night not far from that scene for questioning, though it is unclear if any charges were lodged.

Police continue to make arrests and conduct enforcement even as the coronavirus ravages the city. Officers are being constantly reminded to avoid contact with suspected people with coronavirus.

One police radio broadcast said, “Members should remember to keep safe distance, perfect use of masks and sanitizing might prevent contamination.”

Police officials report that 98 NYPD personnel have been diagnosed with coronavirus, 70 of those are uniformed officers.
