A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a vehicle on busy Duke Street in Alexandria, Virginia, not far from the Charles E. Beatley Jr. Central Library.
It happened around 8 a.m. Sunday on Duke Street near Cameron Station Boulevard.
Alexandria Police tell WTOP the person was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene.
Duke Street remains closed between North Pickett Street and Cameron Station Boulevard as police investigate.
