HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Widespread flooding early Monday evening has hit parts of Huntington, trapping people in cars and even closing evening classes at Marshall University.
Cabell County 911 dispatchers say every underpass in the city was flooded around 5 p.m. There were multiple roads with street flooding, and cars were stuck in the water.
According to dispatchers, 5th Avenue, Adams Avenue, 8th Street, 20th Street, 1st Street and 6th Avenue are facing some form of street flooding.
Parts of 5th Avenue, including in the area of 20th Street and eastward, are closed. Drivers are advised to avoid those areas. The high water even caused Marshall University to cancel evening classes due to high water on streets around campus.
