ANN ARBOR, MI -- Two downtown Ann Arbor streets will be limited to traffic through 2022 for the construction of a new residential building.
Northbound South Main Street, from Packard to East William Street, and East William Street, from South Main Street to South Fourth Avenue, will be closed to make room for the project, according to a news release.
Landmark Properties is building “The Standard,” a 10-story building with apartments and ground-floor retail. Developers broke ground on the project at 425 S. Main St. in September.

Starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 2, the eastern northbound lane of South Main Street and the sidewalk, between Packard and East William streets will be closed. Pedestrians will be required to cross South Main Street to access the sidewalk on the west side of the road, according to a news release. The project is expected to continue until Thursday, Jan. 20, 2022.
A stretch of the eastbound lane on East William Street will also close to provide a pedestrian access tunnel from South Main Street to the alley between South Main Street and South Fourth Avenue, according to a news release. Traffic is not expected to be significantly affected on East William Street, according to the city.
