Elmira, N.Y. (WBNG) -- Those who use the Walnut Street bridge will need to find another route starting in a few days.
The City of Elmira Department of Public Works says the bridge will close two days later than expected, beginning on Wed, Mar. 4. The bridge is anticipated to re-open early to mid-fall of this year.
The Department of Public Works says that pedestrian traffic will not be affected during this time, and people will be able to walk through when the contractors are working.
They say that there will be separate detours posted for trucks and smaller vehicles due to height restrictions.
