HOLYOKE – Part of Cherry Street is closed Sunday morning after a driver crashed into a utility pole, downing wires and the pole.
The driver was not hurt in the single-car crash that occurred overnight, Police Sgt. Jeff Joniec said.
The well-traveled road between the intersections of Hillside and Northampton Street is expected to be closed for several hours as work crews make the repairs. Joniec did not know how long it would take to reopen the street.
He did not expect it to cause major traffic problems since traffic is typically lighter on Sunday and most people are staying hope to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
The crash is under investigation by Holyoke Police. No citations have been issued yet, he said.
